Quick Disk Mount

In this how-to, I will explain how I set up Ubuntu to quickly mount and unmount disk, USB devices, etc.

For UBS devices and drives, I used Disk Mounter, which is built into the panel.

  1. Right-click the top panel and click Add to Panel…panel-right-click

  2. The panel widgets will show

  3. Scroll down and find Disk Mounter diskmounter

  4. Click the Add button

Disk Mounter will appear in your panel as a box of mountable drives on your system, including USB drives, CD/DVD drives, and other mountable devices (iPod, audio devices, etc.).

To disconnect the device, I just have to click on its icon and select Unmount or Eject.

Disk Mounter allows me to quickly mount and unmount disk and devices even when I can’t see their icons on the desktop.
